head_bckg_rightI believe therapy is very helpful to all individuals, it is an extremely versatile process that can address a broad range of issues that clients bring to therapy. Therapy can lead to increased stability, self-efficacy and functioning, self-assurance, self-awareness, problem solving, and relationship satisfaction. I firmly believe that stability, achieved through healthy coping, self-awareness and self-care, is a fundamental first step in reaching many people’s goal of a happier life. And that through the exploration of emotions and beliefs about the self, relationships, and events, therapy can help establish increased resolution, meaning, and understanding.

I am a Certified Canadian Counsellor and have been working as a counsellor in private practice since the winter of 2007. I completed graduate training in counselling at Saint Paul University and did an internship at the Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma. I enjoy working with clients coming to therapy for a broad range of reasons and have experience working with people addressing sexual and psychological abuse, family conflict, relationship issues, sexual and pornography addiction, dissociative disorders and DID, life transition, parenting issues, grief and bereavement, depression, anxiety.

In therapy, I draw from a broad range of therapeutic modalities (such as psychodynamic, EMDR, cognitive, interpersonal, narrative, Sandtray-Worldplay, attachment and experiential models) and work collaboratively with clients based on their needs and goals. In working with clients I attend to stability and safety, cognitive, social and interpersonal issues with the effort of considering all of the potential challenges that each client faces. Fundamental to my work as a therapist is a good therapeutic relationship with clients, based on respect, safety and trust, empathy, confidentiality, and compassion.

It is my hope for clients, that through therapy they achieve practical problem-solving and personal awareness to meet both short-term, immediate challenges, as well as experience some longer-term benefits of therapy such as improved self-concept and sense of resolution of previous experiences. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions about my training or experience.  You can reach me directly by calling (613) 447-1846.
