I believe strongly in the capacity for change that resides in each of us. As a therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience, I have seen time and again that full resolution of early traumas is possible. Through the process of therapy, we can learn how to drop shame-based and distorted beliefs about ourselves – and move into a way of being and relating that is deeply rooted in self-acceptance and compassion.
I am trained as a sex therapist to work with individuals and couples experiencing a breakdown in intimacy as a result of past traumas, an affair, loss, or addiction. I enjoy working with both straight and gay couples and members of LGBTTQ communities. Sex therapy can lead to powerful and surprising transformations, new ways of experiencing our erotic potential and a deepening sense of joy, freedom and self-discovery.
I am trained in EMDR and use it to help resolve PTSD as well as for performance-enhacement. I am also a passionate practitioner of Sandtray-Worldplay therapy: a powerful transformational process for individuals, couples and groups. As an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, I offer case consultation and supervision to mental health teams, students and practicing therapists in the Ottawa area.
